Manor Lords: Introduction to Army and Warfare Gameplay
Troops
There are three types of soldiers that make up the army: Militia, Mercenaries, and Retainers.

Militia are composed of male residents from the player’s territory. Players only need to provide them with weapons; additional equipment like helmets is not required but can enhance their combat abilities.
Mercenaries do not require equipment but need to be paid monthly from the treasury.
It is worth noting that AI opponents also hire mercenaries, but the total number of mercenaries is fixed. Therefore, the number of mercenaries that players can hire will decrease over time until they are all hired by AI lords.
Retainers are tied to the region’s manors and can enhance their combat abilities through configuration or expanding the manor.
Warfare
Militia and retainers need to gather in controlled regions first, while mercenaries can be directly controlled.
The operation of the army is similar to traditional RTS games:
Move units: Hold down the left mouse button and drag to select units, then right-click on any location on the ground to command the troops to move.
Formation width: Hold down the right mouse button and drag the selected units to determine the width of the formation. A shorter formation is stronger but more susceptible to flanking by enemy forces.
Attack enemy forces: After selecting units, right-click on enemy units, and the army will attack the appropriate position based on the current unit type.
Occupying regions requires declaring sovereignty using influence.
If a region declared sovereign is occupied by AI, you need to win the region’s dispute battle first.
