Manor Lords: Farming Experience Sharing

Although farming yields are currently low, expanding the size and number of fields can control the harvest. It’s best to make the fields as large as possible, but bigger isn’t always better as larger fields result in lower profits. Here is how to effectively farm:

Manor Lords: Farming Experience Sharing

Farming is divided into 4 stages: plowing, seeding, waiting for the harvest, and harvesting.

  1. Plowing is the most important stage that affects your harvest. It is recommended to sow before autumn, which is just before winter sets in. The crops will mature and be ready for harvest around August or September after a growth period of nearly 300 days. Even if sown in spring with a 180-day growth period, the yield is halved, but it’s sufficient for winter food.
  2. Seedling typically follows plowing, so to maximize efficiency, ensure that your farmhands are fully occupied with plowing. Utilize technology for plowing efficiency, such as our oxen, to increase productivity. Aim to complete plowing and sowing within a month to maximize profits.
  3. Waiting for the autumn harvest allows you to focus on other tasks temporarily. Monitor the countdown timer and ensure all farmhands are engaged when approaching harvest time.
  4. Harvesting is crucial, as it involves transporting harvested crops back to storage. There may be losses during this process – for instance, a harvest of 2000 might yield only around 500 due to transport losses. Rainfall can exacerbate losses, so having extra farmhands can minimize losses by reducing trips.

When farming, ensure all hands are on deck, aim to extend the growth period, and reduce wheat losses due to time constraints. This way, you can secure three years’ worth of food from one year’s harvest. Rotate fields to prevent soil depletion, and have a larger field for bountiful harvests and a smaller one to keep up with population growth.

As long as you can sustain for a year, you can reduce reliance on continuous carrot farming. Focus on population growth in the initial phase, and once your population increases, prioritize farming. Mastering farming enables you to support population growth while preparing for winter, where hunting is limited, and bread becomes the main food source. Stockpile wheat during autumn harvest to avoid food shortages in winter.
