Manor Lords: Practical Tips for Beginners

To speed up construction, you need oxen first, as the basic building material is raw wood, and only oxen can handle it. After the oxen haul the wood, a progress bar will appear, and the remaining work is done by idle family members. Therefore, any task related to the wood factory must be operated by oxen. If you add construction to that, one ox will definitely slow down the progress, so if you have the money, buy an extra ox each month and keep them in a separate pen.
How to increase population? You need more manors and the people’s happiness should be above 50; it is said that over 75, you can add one household every month.

Why does the warehouse show insufficient resources even though there are items stored? This is related to stalls – you need sufficient stalls, typically managed by housewives or children. Even traders at marketplaces will run stalls, with their family members doing the selling. Therefore, as long as you have surplus population in jobs, stalls will be automatically generated. To specify goods, such as lacking food when the granary has excess grain, you can assign stalls in the granary to create additional stalls. Any job, not just related to food, can actually manage any type of stall.
What to do when there are a lot of radishes but no one collects them to store in the granary? Simply put, for families that grow radishes, provide a second household – family members will deliver the radishes to the granary. If this doesn’t work, build a granary nearby specifically for radishes and assign jobs accordingly.
How to allocate technology points? Since many technologies are still locked and technology points are limited, focus on practical ones. In essence, farming games aim to dominate the world in the future, and the quickest way is to make money through trade. Therefore, prioritize two trading technologies for imports and exports, followed by unlimited mining, then consider baking bread or hunting. Other technologies are optional.
How is AI able to send troops to fight bandits while I’m still farming? It comes down to the profit from bandit camps. On the main map, you will see a tent icon (bandits), stepping on it can earn you over 100 coins, whereas hiring two mercenary units costs about 50 coins per month. Don’t have enough troops to defeat them? Simple. If there’s a notification that another lord’s troops are nearby, don’t panic, they’re not attacking us but the bandits. Send out the servants who were sent at the start of building a manor, follow them, wait for them to engage in battle, then sneak the servants around to step on the tent. Store the money in the private treasury and immediately recruit more mercenaries to continue fighting the bandits’ cause. You can even declare war on other lords for extra money.
What goods to sell for profit through trade? Start with exploiting rich clay or iron deposits, sell tiles or iron blocks for approximately 8 coins each. When prices drop, switch to reselling various products created by level 2 manors, such as shoes, weapons, shields, etc. Once prices fall again, return to selling tiles and iron blocks. If you have too many radishes and nowhere to store them, you can also sell them, but they won’t fetch a good price.
How to dump items in a colony? My advice is not to dump, as it involves exchange trade where both sides must offer something, which can be too cumbersome. You don’t even need to upgrade to a level 3 manor; instead, focus on increasing population and making money through trade by fully equipping the servants, signing permanent contracts with mercenaries (auto-renewal), and then using well-equipped servants alongside numerous mercenaries to fight whoever you want.
