Wuthering Waves: Jianxin Build Guide
Character Information
【Jianxin】
Element: Anemo
Weapon Type: Arm Wraps

Recommended Role: Sub DPS/Support DPS
Key Skills: Bullet Reflection, Shield, Aggro Management, Healing, AoE Damage, Resonance Release Damage Boost
Character Analysis:
Jianxin is an extremely versatile character, often referred to as a hexagonal warrior. They can provide healing and shields to alleviate the survival pressure on the team, while also dealing decent AoE damage themselves. Jianxin’s abilities make them effective at clearing residual camps in the early and mid-game, and they also have some aggro management capabilities. Their Elemental Burst skill can provide a resonance release damage boost for the next character, making them a valuable addition to any open-world exploration team.
Skill Breakdown
Resonance Skill: Stillness in Motion

After activating the Resonance Skill, Jianxin enters the Stance state, which allows them to block incoming damage and counter with a higher-damage Airborne Counterattack. If the stance is voluntarily released or if no damage is taken during the blocking period, Jianxin will perform a Descending Counterattack. In terms of damage multipliers, the Airborne Counterattack is approximately 30% stronger than the Descending Counterattack, but it is typically used to block a single attack.
Resonance Skill: Purifying Force Field
The Resonance Skill has two parts. The first part inflicts continuous damage and has some aggro-generating effects, but it has a relatively small range and lasts just over three seconds. In situations where enemies are densely packed together, combining this skill with other characters’ crowd control abilities can yield good results. The second part deals slightly higher AoE damage and has a similar range to the aggro effect.
It should be noted that the continuous damage consists of about 10-15 ticks. Comparing the damage multiplier with the burst skill of “Vagrant of Obliteration,” Jianxin’s Resonance Release multiplier is approximately 70% of Vagrant of Obliteration’s Resonance Release multiplier. This may be the cost of the aggro-generating ability, although it is not particularly powerful.
Resonance Circuit: Primordial Whirlwind
This is Jianxin’s core mechanic. There are four states of luck: “Not Yet Reached Small Circulation,” “Small Circulation,” “Great Circulation – Internal,” and “Great Circulation – External.” The “Qi” (Luck) bar is consumed from right to left when using the “Primordial Whirlwind.” Imagine the furthest right and left lines as a single line, then add the existing two lines, resulting in a total of four lines, each corresponding to one state.
The explanation above can be simplified by saying that when the “Qi” is full, hold the Charged Attack button until ready to release. Just keep holding unless knocked away by enemies. It’s that simple. During the release, there will also be AoE damage, and the attack range gradually increases as the luck state progresses. Additionally, there will be three instances of Shockwave damage, making it very effective for clearing enemies.
Resonance Extension Skill: Metamorphosis
Boosts the resonance release damage of the next character to enter the field. Currently, only main DPS characters with high damage multipliers can benefit significantly from this extension skill, such as Taoqi, Danjin, and Vagrant of Obliteration. While Yangyang and Chixia can also benefit, their individual character strength may not be as satisfactory. Among the 5-star characters, only Calcharo has some benefits, while other 5-star characters have low benefits. Morteveille is the most unique case. Morteveille’s resonance release does not lock the panel. If Morteveille is on the field throughout the duration of Jianxin’s burst skill after using Metamorphosis, there will be benefits. Otherwise, there won’t be any. However, Morteveille’s extension skill can boost Jianxin’s Primordial Whirlwind.

Weapons and Echo Recommendations
Weapon Recommendation
The armament I currently possess includes the four-star forged weapon “Robust Shadow Fist-21D” found in the mist, as well as other four-star weapons such as “Terrifying Tread” (upgraded four-star weapon), “Robes of Resilience,” the Big Moon Card weapon “Golden Palm,” and the five-star weapon “Raging Waves of the Abyss.” There is also a four-star weapon whose attributes are not well understood at the moment, so I won’t mention it for now. Basically, you only need to consider the following three weapons in order, but the Big Moon Card weapon is not mandatory.
Five-star weapon “Raging Waves of the Abyss”
Big Moon Card weapon “Golden Palm”
Four-star weapon “Terrifying Tread”
Voice Recommendation
Given that “Jianxin” has a relatively rich functionality, it can carry “Light Clouds and the Moon,” “Concealed Light Reappearance,” “Endless Echo,” and “Howling Valley Winds.”
In terms of set selection, the primary considerations are the five-piece set of “Endless Echo” or the five-piece set of “Howling Valley Winds.”
If pursuing damage output, the five-piece set of “Howling Valley Winds” is a good choice. After using variation skills, aerodynamic damage is increased, and accumulated “qi” can be used to release “Elemental Cyclone.” Among characters, if there is no suitable aerodynamic output character, it is recommended to prioritize the five-piece set of “Howling Valley Winds” to pave the way for later arrivals.
If seeking functionality, the five-piece set of “Endless Echo” can provide 10%+20% attack power after six seconds of use, and sustained skill damage enhancement cannot be achieved. The increase in attack power allows “Jianxin” to provide more recovery and shields, while also boosting some damage.
In terms of COST combination, for the 5-star quality voice spirits, the main attribute values for COST1 and COST3 attack percentages are 18% and 30% respectively. For main attribute selection, we have two options: Crit Rate +2, Aerodynamic +2, Attack +2, and Attack +5.
My personal recommendation:
Set: “Howling Valley Winds” five-piece set
Voice Spirit Skill: “Flying Lynx”
COST Combination: 4/3/3/1/1
Main Attribute Selection: COST4 Crit Rate = Attack > Crit Damage, COST3 Aerodynamic Damage Bonus = Attack, COST1 Attack
Sub-attribute Selection: Crit Rate = Attack > Crit Damage >= Heavy Strike Damage Bonus > Resonance Release Damage Bonus = Resonance Efficiency > Others
Alternatively,
Set: “Endless Echo” five-piece set
Voice Spirit Skill: “Mechanical Puppet”
COST Combination: 4/3/3/1/1
Main Attribute Selection: All Attack Percentage
Sub-attribute Selection: Attack > Crit Rate = Crit Damage >= Heavy Strike Damage Bonus > Resonance Release Damage Bonus = Resonance Efficiency > Others
Team Composition:
Based on the current character roster and personal understanding, I recommend two team compositions. However, it’s important to note that “Jianxin” is not necessarily the core of the team. Don’t force yourself to train characters that don’t suit your playstyle. “Jianxin” is versatile enough to be paired with various characters, even if they may not fully utilize its abilities.
Annihilation Team:
“Danjin” + “Jianxin” + “Taoqi”/”Wanderer·Annihilator”
The idea behind this team composition is that “Danjin’s” sustained skill can provide Annihilation Damage bonus for the next character in line, while “Jianxin’s” sustained skill can benefit all three characters effectively.
Just make sure to use “Danjin’s” sustained skill before another Annihilation character.
Pairing with “Taoqi” can provide shields to help “Jianxin” alleviate survival pressure due to the lack of a dedicated healer.
Pairing with “Wanderer·Annihilator” focuses more on overall team output.
Calcharo Team:
“Calcharo” + “Jianxin” + “Verina”
“Calcharo” is a character that can transform and release resonance. During the resonance release state, “Calcharo” unlocks the Heavy Strike “Death Call,” which deals high resonance release damage with a 500% multiplier at level one. “Jianxin’s” sustained skill provides significant resonance release damage bonus, and “Verina” provides attack and damage bonuses to the team, allowing “Jianxin” to better serve as a secondary AoE damage dealer.
